The Prime Minister's advisor leads efforts to enhance investment and economic cooperation in the United Kingdom

The Prime Minister's advisor for investment affairs and the CEO of the Iraq Development Fund, Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, conducted a series of important meetings in the United Kingdom to enhance economic and investment cooperation.
Meetings were held with officials from the British Foreign Office and the Department for International Development.
On May 14, 2024, Mr. Al-Najjar met with Ambassador Steven Hickey, Mr. Ivan Parks, and Mr. Richard Earl Park to discuss enhancing economic cooperation and supporting the Iraq Development Fund in attracting foreign investments and improving the business environment in Iraq.
Collaboration with the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds
On May 15, 2024, Al-Najjar met with Mr. Duncan Bonfield and Dr. Victoria Barbary from the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF). They discussed enhancing cooperation, and the forum expressed readiness to provide advice and support, with an agreement for Iraq to join the forum as a member.
Partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
On the same day, Al-Najjar discussed with Mr. Marcus Garcia and Mrs. Nino Martsania from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) ways to enhance foreign investments and support the private sector in Iraq. They emphasized the necessity for Iraq to complete the procedures for full membership in the bank.
A memorandum of understanding was signed with Vertical Future company.
On May 17, 2024, Al-Najjar signed a memorandum of understanding with the CEO of Vertical Future, Mr. Jimmy Borrows, to develop the agricultural system in Iraq using modern agricultural technology and to establish independent vertical farms. This step comes as part of the government's efforts to enhance direct investment and economic development.
Al-Najjar was accompanied by representatives from the Iraqi Embassy in these meetings, reflecting the Iraqi government's commitment to developing international partnerships to support sustainable development in Iraq.
